We believe that more time should be spent at your consultation than the NHS will allow for and generally advise a range of further investigations, outside the scope of the basic NHS provision, such as OCT scanning. This time and these procedures enable us to better check that all is well with your eyes and sight and fully understand your needs and concerns. We do not work with clinical assistants. All checks will be carried out by your Optometrist themselves. Our Professional Fees vary depending on which investigations are indicated for you, but generally an Extended Private Eye Examination, lasting about an hour, is £95.
For young people under the age of 25, where more complex investigations are often not indicated, our fees for an eye examination, including retinal imaging, are just £55.
If you have an entitlement to an NHS sight test, we will be pleased to reduce our fees for you, taking into account the contribution that the NHS will make towards the ‘Sight Test’ element of your consultation. People who might be entitled to an NHS subsidy include those who have a close family history of glaucoma, diabetics and the over 60’s if they have not had a check within 2 years (be it private or NHS).
Please don’t hesitate to call us if you would like more information and advice as to whether you might be entitled to any NHS services including vouchers towards to cost of glasses or contact lenses.
A basic NHS Sight Test only remains available on request.
For UK resident, NHS entitled, children and young people aged 16, 17, or 18, and in full-time education, our examinations remain free to you. We will carry out an extended eye examination, including retinal imaging, but no additional fees are payable.
Should a child require further investigations, beyond this initial consultation, (such as cycloplegic refraction or Meares Irlen investigations) private fees will generally apply.
